Do you need new carpet or flooring installed?

March 11, 2017 at 8:34 pm

Does your home have carpet stains, rips or pet dander smells?  How about linoleum flooring?  If so you are in need of an upgrade.  Tearing out the old flooring and replacing with new carpeting or tile will make a huge difference in how your home feels when you walk inside.

Carpeting will become worn over time especially with kids and pets.  Today’s carpet has many options:

  • Stainmaster®’s PetProtect® line is the best choice of carpet for homes with pets and kids.
  • Resists pet stains. The carpet is solution dyed and made with SuperiorSD™ nylon fiber so it’s color safe.  It has built-in stain protection and it locks in the color so it resists fading.
  • STAINMASTER® TruSoft®carpet is one of the top rated soft carpets on the market today. It has a luxurious feel under your feet as you walk around your home.   TruSoft® carpet is manufactured from specially engineered nylon fibers to give it a super soft feel.
  • STAIN RESISTANT
  • TruSoft® carpet has stain resistance to food and beverage stains.
  • PROVEN PERFORMANCE
  • TruSoft® carpet is known to be very durable and easy to clean.

Carpet tile is also called carpet squares or modular carpet and is an alternative to standard carpet rolls.

  • The market share of carpet tile has grown significantly over the last couple of years. Historically it has been primarily used for commercial floor installation, but a growing number of residential carpet manufacturers have begun to market products aimed at the consumer.

Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) is the fastest growing segment in the flooring industry.

  • This is the designer’s choice for many commercial and residential applications. This unique product is the perfect combination of beauty, maintenance and durability.
  • You can now  have the look, graining, and character of real hardwood in LVT.  Today’s manufacturing processes create amazing vinyl “wood” planks and textured “stone” tiles that rival the real thing.
  • Luxury vinyl flooring systems use advanced realistic photographic technologies  to replicate real hardwoods and stones. There are four  layers fused together to produce the final product: a resilient vinyl backing, a vinyl color layer, a photographic film layer, and a urethane or aluminum oxide top layer. The protective top layer  is very important to the durability of the product.

Tile Flooring: Any realtor will tell you that tile flooring significantly increases a home’s resale value. The beauty of tile flooring lasts an extremely long time if it is properly maintained. Tile flooring is ageless especially when earth tones are used.

  • Durability:Porcelain flooring is very durable and  the tiles are difficult to crack. A quality installation can last for 10 to 20 years and even longer if well maintained.
  • Water Resistant:Glazed ceramic and porcelain tiles have a non porous layer of liquid glass that sits on top of the tiles making them impervious to water and stain penetration. They are also naturally resistant to the ravages of high humidity conditions. These properties makes them ideal for use in wet environments like bathrooms and kitchens.
  • Tiles that are not glazed will need to be sealed in order to protect their surface from liquids.

Wool Carpet is a natural fiber that is one of most popular types of carpet for your home.  Wool carpet is a natural fiber that resistant to moisture and mold. Wool is a long lasting material that wears nicely.

Wool is the only natural fiber that makes it into the top four most popular types of carpeting.

Pros of Wool Carpet

  1. Natural Fiber
Wool is made from sheep that are shaved and the wool is processed into yarn. The wool is treated before being woven into carpeting .
  2. Naturally Flame Retardant
Wool has a natural flame retardant quality. Wool does not usually ignite like other fibers. Commercial buildings owners use it because of its flame retardant trait.
  3. Moisture Resistant
Wool absorbs and releases moisture efficiently. Wool returns to its original state after the moisture has dissipated. Wool has natural wicking properties which is why it is used in lots of clothing.
  4. Dirt Resistant
Wool is a very long lasting material. It hides dirt nicely and is easy to clean.
  5. Great Insulator
Wool has a natural waviness which makes it one of the best types of natural insulation. Wool carpet can lower your energy expenditures as it provides a thermal insulator in the winter and a cooling protection in the summer months.
  6. Wool carpeting is elegant
Wool is easy to color because it naturally retains moisture. Dyes can be applied which will last for an extremely long period of time.  This makes wool carpeting fantastic for decorating any room.  People love how wool carpeting looks and lasts. Wool is used in most oriental carpets because of its capacity to hold dyes nicely.

Cons of Wool Carpeting

  1. Pricey
Wool tends to be more expensive than a lot of fibers because of the cost involved in processing the wool from the sheep into carpeting.
  2. Less Stain Resistant
Wool is easily dyed and it is easily stained. If you have younger children it may not be the best choice for your home.

Find the softest and most luxurious carpet available today.

November 28, 2016 at 11:40 pm

STAINMASTER® TruSoft® carpet is one of the top rated soft carpets on the market today. It has a luxurious feel under your feet as you walk around your home.   TruSoft® carpet is manufactured from specially engineered nylon fibers to give it a super soft feel.

Today, consumer demand is all about softness.  STAINMASTER® TruSoft® has ultra-soft fibers.   TruSoft is made of nylon 6,6, which has been regarded as the best performing synthetic carpet fiber.  Don’t make a mistake with other soft fibers like polyesters,  as they won’t perform or hold up to traffic.

“As the market trends to softer fibers, we are raising the bar on softness with STAINMASTER® carpets with TruSoft™ fiber” said T.M. Nuckols, director of innovation and product development, INVISTA Surfaces. “It’s the softest STAINMASTER® carpet ever introduced and is among the softest of any carpet on the market.  However, we aren’t sacrificing performance with TruSoft™ fiber. These styles will meet the same performance levels and will have to pass the same battery of tests required of all STAINMASTER® carpets.” Nuckols continued, “In addition, with our other new innovation,

STAIN RESISTANT

TruSoft® carpet has stain resistance to food and beverage stains.

PROVEN PERFORMANCE

TruSoft® carpet is known to be very durable and easy to clean.

Disadvantage: The cleaning head of your typical vacuum cleaner can sink in to the soft pile carpet. This makes vacuuming more difficult to do, and the soft fiber shows more footprints when walking on it.  We can help you with vacuum cleaner recommendations if you are not sure where to start.
