Erik Burns has grown up watching his dad, Tom Burns, install carpet since he was a child and thus, in his words, he has been in the industry as long as he can remember. After moving to Golden, CO in 1996 from Chicago, IL, Erik eventually went on to study Political Science at Colorado State University. On the weekdays he went to class and on the weekends, he went home and installed carpet to make ends meet. It was at this time that he developed his knowledge of the installation process, including measuring and seam placement. Shortly after he graduated, Scot Johnson and his dad, created the blueprint for what is now Coventry Carpets and Erik made the decision to be part of the team. Since 2007, Erik has become an expert in helping people make better flooring choices and ensuring the end result meets their needs. By combining his installation background and vast product knowledge, Erik can help guide you through your floor covering investment.

Maggie Burns has always been heavily involved in the family business and, through the years, she has even been a big part of many installationsMaggie Burns, Erik’s wife since 2010, has always been heavily involved in the family business and, through the years, she has even been a big part of many installations. As Erik’s business grew, it began to become more and more clear that the only way to elevate his business to the next level would be if they formed a team. Although she loved her career in the banking industry, and developed many skills along the way, in early 2018 she and Erik decided it was time for The Burns Team to take flight and help facilitate the best customer experience possible for Erik’s clients. Maggie and Erik reside in Golden, CO along with their son Conor and their dog Rossi. They love the outdoors and taking in all that Colorado has to offer including skiing, cycling, hiking, and camping. Although they will go practically anywhere in the Denver Metro area for business they particularly enjoy working with home owners west of Denver specifically Arvada, Lakewood, Evergreen, and of course, Golden.

They look forward to meeting you!

STAINMASTER® TruSoft® carpet is one of the top rated soft carpets available.  It  feels great on  your bare feet as you walk around your home.   TruSoft® carpet is manufactured from specially engineered nylon fibers to give it a super soft feel.

Today, consumer demand is all about softness.  STAINMASTER® TruSoft® has ultra-soft fibers.   TruSoft is made of nylon 6,6, which has been regarded as the best performing synthetic carpet fiber.

It’s soft and shows color beautifully but is also known for its durability. This little fiber is resilient, repellent, long-lasting and easy to clean.

  • Extremely durable
  • Stays clean longer than most carpeting
  • Exceptional appearance for a long time

“As the market trends to softer fibers, we are raising the bar on softness with STAINMASTER® carpets with TruSoft™ fiber” said T.M. Nuckols, director of innovation and product development, INVISTA Surfaces. “It’s the softest STAINMASTER® carpet ever introduced and is among the softest of any carpet on the market.  However, we aren’t sacrificing performance with TruSoft™ fiber. These styles will meet the same performance levels and will have to pass the same battery of tests required of all STAINMASTER® carpets.”

TruSoft® carpet has stain resistance to food and beverage stains.

PROVEN PERFORMANCE

These guys are awesome! They came to my house and brought me samples after I explained to them what I was looking for in carpet. No need to run around all over town in this horrid Denver traffic. Everything went smoothly from the selection process to final install. I would definitely recommend them!

Stainmaster®’s PetProtect® is the best carpet if you have pets.

April 6, 2018 at 8:10 pm

Pets can do a number on your carpeting, especially young pets.  Pets shed hair and have accidents which will reduce the life of your carpeting.  Stainmaster®’s PetProtect®,  the leaders in carpet stain protection have developed PetProtect® Nylon Carpeting that is designed to prevent carpet stains with stain-resistant nylon.  Spills should not become permanent stains if the spill is treated right away.

When accidents happen follow these steps for the best results:
PET URINE

  • Soak up and blot spill.
  • Apply tested cleaning solution.
  • Leave solution on 5 minutes or more.
  • Rinse with cold water; cover with white paper towel.

CLEANING SOLUTIONS

Carpeting is good for the air quality in your home.

January 9, 2018 at 10:52 pm

Indoor air quality is more important than ever. The EPA reports that we spend approximately 90% of our time indoors.  Carpeting in your home can actually provide a healthier quality of air in your house. Carpet is made up of piles of carpet that form a three-dimensional structure. This structure traps dust, pollen, pet dander and allergans so that they do not continue to circulate in the room like they would if you have tile or hardwoods.  You need to clean your carpet regularly with a good vacuum cleaner fitted with a HEPA filter every week to remove the particles.

Carpeting  requires less chemicals to clean than other flooring coverings, which helps reduce the amount of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) present in the air.  We primarily use a vacuum to remove the dirt. VOCs are an outdoor pollutant emitted from cleaning agents that can accumulate indoors without proper ventilation.   If you have tile or hardwoods you will typically be using cleaners that have VOC’s.

When scientifically tested, the air above carpet contains fewer allergens and dust mites than the air above hard surfaces, says Kathryn O. Sellers, director of public relations for the  Carpet and Rug Institute,  Dalton, Ga.  She feels carpet is an asset rather than a detriment to air quality because it tends to hold allergens out of the air until they are vacuumed away. But, here’s the catch: the carpet must be vacuumed and cleaned often enough.

It is recommended that you have your carpeting professional deep cleaned every year so that any deep down dirt gets removed.

When you buy carpet make sure you look for: Certifications like Green Label Plus that certify that the brand of carpet is a low emitter of volatile organic compounds.

The people at Coventry Flooring can help you choose the best type of carpeting for your needs.  Call us today to set up an in home appointment with our mobile showroom.  You can also set up an appointment to meet us at our Denver showroom.
