The market share of carpet tile has grown significantly over the last couple of years. Historically it has been primarily used for commercial floor installation, but a growing number of residential carpet manufacturers have begun to market products aimed at the consumer.
Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) is the fastest growing segment in the flooring industry.
This is the designer’s choice for many commercial and residential applications. This unique product is the perfect combination of beauty, maintenance and durability.
You can now have the look, graining, and character of real hardwood in LVT. Today’s manufacturing processes create amazing vinyl “wood” planks and textured “stone” tiles that rival the real thing.
Luxury vinyl flooring systems use advanced realistic photographic technologies to replicate real hardwoods and stones. There are four layers fused together to produce the final product: a resilient vinyl backing, a vinyl color layer, a photographic film layer, and a urethane or aluminum oxide top layer. The protective top layer is very important to the durability of the product.
Tile Flooring: Any realtor will tell you that tile flooring significantly increases a home’s resale value. The beauty of tile flooring lasts an extremely long time if it is properly maintained. Tile flooring is ageless especially when earth tones are used.
Durability:Porcelain flooring is very durable and the tiles are difficult to crack. A quality installation can last for 10 to 20 years and even longer if well maintained.
Water Resistant:Glazed ceramic and porcelain tiles have a non porous layer of liquid glass that sits on top of the tiles making them impervious to water and stain penetration. They are also naturally resistant to the ravages of high humidity conditions. These properties makes them ideal for use in wet environments like bathrooms and kitchens.
Tiles that are not glazed will need to be sealed in order to protect their surface from liquids.

Enjoying a romantic night at home and your wine glass tips over on the floor or carpet? Don’t worry just clean it up quickly. As soon as you spill some red wine on your carpet get a clean rag and put it over the spill and apply pressure to blot up the wine. Keep blotting the wine up with new towels until you cannot absorb any more wine. Then get a damp cloth, with cold water so the stain does not set in, and blot until no more is visible on the towel.
If you spilled on your hardwood floors it will be even easier. Just blot up the wine until no more is left and then clean with a hardwood floor cleaner..
If the carpet spill just happened, get a clean white cloth and put pressure on the stain until the cloth is saturated with the wine. Repeat with clean cloths until no more wine is being absorbed. Switch to a clean, damp cloth (use cold water to avoid setting the stain) and blot until the remaining wine is no longer visible.
Here are the basic steps to take whenever Wine is spilled on your floor:
Soak up and blot spill.
Apply tested cleaning solution.
Leave solution on 5 minutes or more.
Rinse with cold water; cover with white paper towel.
Mix 1/4 teaspoon mild liquid dish soap with one cup warm water.
Mix 2 tablespoons white vinegar with 4 cups warm water.
Clean up the chocolate with a clean paper towel. Use a teaspoon of dye free dish soap with two cups of cold water. Put a clean towel in the solution and wash until the stain is removed. Rinse with clean water and pat dry.

Here are some things to look at:
Stains are one of the main reasons why people replace their carpet. Over time things happen. Food and drink get spilled. Dirt gets tracked in. If you have pets than possibly pet urine. All of these things get on the carpet and possibly into the padding. If you have had the same carpet for a long time and there are stains than it is most likely time to replace it.
Carpeting will absorb odors that penetrates deep into the fibers and even the padding if not cleaned and cared for properly. Proper cleaning and care is critical to keeping away odors from your carpet. If you have pets when replacing your carpet you may want to consider a pet protect type of carpeting and padding.
The older your carpet is the more wear it will usually have. If your carpet has small tears in it they can be repaired. The older the carpeting and the more wear and tears you have than it is probably time to replace it. If you have polyester carpeting than it will typically matt down and lose its form over time. Nylon on the other hand tends to be tougher and stand up better to wear. If after a deep professional cleaning it still does not look that great than it is probably time to replace it.
Replacing your carpet will need to be done eventually. When you are ready to start looking give us a call. We will come to your home and help you with the next decision. What kind of carpeting should I get now?
Properly installed carpet makes it look and last much longer. If your carpet is not installed properly by professionals the life of your carpet will most likely suffer. Your room may not look as good as well.

In fact, most other retailers sub out their work. At Coventry our installation crews have over 30 years of carpet experience.
A proper installation technique for carpet installation would be to use a power stretcher, only a knee kicker would be adequate for putting on new stairs.
Remember, carpet is a textile, if seams are visible that does not mean it to a poor installation. seam tape and direct lighting are usually the reasons seam are more visible in some places verse others. Another good example of textile seaming would be clothing, take a quick glance at what your wearing, and you will notice seams typically far more than you do on carpet.
Proper ventilation after carpet installation helps to remove the smell you can get after the new carpet has been put down. Try and keep your windows open and fans flowing to provide proper ventilation for a couple of days.
Clean your carpet with a quality vacuum cleaner weekly, it will improve your indoor air quality and make your room look nice. Do some research on vacuums, Dyson vacuums are very hard on carpet, and can often leads to carpet looking ratty long before they should. Make sure to follow these tips:
Dust first and then vacuum. Start your cleaning by dusting your blinds, windows and furniture and then vacuum this dust up while cleaning your carpet.
Take your time and do it right hitting the entire room thoroughly including the corners where dirt and dust can build up.
Empty or replace the vacuum bags when they are half to two thirds full.
Hiring a professional to deep clean your carpet at least once a year will extend its life.

Historically it has been primarily used for commercial floor installation, but a growing number of residential carpet manufacturers have begun to market products aimed at the consumer. Carpet tile is used in all types of commercial applications for high traffic areas.
